Flaxseed stew (flax seed wot) ተልባ ወጥ
3-4 tbsp flax seed
3 to 4 tablespoons berbere (Ethiopian red pepper and Spice Mix)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tomato
3-5 cloves fresh garlic
1/2 cup oil
sea salt
2-3 tsp wot mekelesha (Tikur Azmud – Black Seed powder)
Korarima ( false cardamom powder)
Add the onions into a medium pot and cook over medium heat until golden brown. Add oil cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally, add minced garlic and tomato continue cooking, stirring occasionally add berbere and little warm water as needed. stir for a few more minutes. Stir occasionally Using a wooden spoon. when the oil coming out add Black Seed powder(Tikur Azmud ), false cardamom powder (Korarima), flax seed powder and water. Reduce the heat to low and simmer 5 -10 minutes then turn off. Serve with Injera or Teff sourdough bread or Teff pita.
