Ater Kik Alicha Wot (Split Pea Wot ) አተር ክክ አልጫ

Ingredients

1 cup dried yellow split peas

2 medium onion, chopped

3- 4  peeled and chopped tomatoes

1/2 cup olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp ginger peeled, and minced

2 teaspoon turmeric

1 jalapeno or hot green pepper

Korerima (  false cardamom)

Preparation

Place the peas in a bowl and rinse thoroughly.  puree the onions in a food processor. Add the onion in a medium skillet oven over medium-high heat and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.  Stir frequently until the water evaporates about 5 minutes. Once the onions begin translucently, add 1/2 cup oil. cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Add tomato reduce heat to medium-low to simmer. Add  garlic, ginger, and turmeric, cook,  Simmer. Then Add the cooked split peas into the onion mixture, add water and reduce the heat. Add Korerima ( false cardamom), and pepper mix it well. Season with salt. Cook, simmer another few more minutes.  Remove from heat. Serve it with injera.
